Kranidi dominates the interior plain of Ermionida. Built on a hill it overlooks the mountain passes north and east, and the port of Kilada below. Historically its inhabitants were engaged in both agricultural and seafaring activities. Its importance as a commercial center is still visible in its stately homes~ ornamented with lace-like iron balconies and its numerous impressive churches. The town still retains a charming old world appearance and atmosphere. Walking along its narrow cobbled streets the sights, sounds and smells transport one to a previous era.

THE FOLKLORE MUSEUM OF KRANIDI

The folklore Museum is lodged in a traditional mansion in Kranidi and it has five rooms.
The visitor can admire the cooking utensils, icons, pieces of furniture, distaffs, a loom, costumes, embroidered pattern, handwoven material and many other objects.
The Folkore Museum was set up and works under the supervisor of the women’s volunteer team. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 12 at noon and from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. At the weekends it is open from 10 a.m to 12 at noon.
The visitor of the museum will travel back in time and will admire the folklore of our hometown.

THE CHURCH OF AGIOS GEORGIOS IN KRANIDI

The church of Agios Georgios is situated on the south slope of the hill of Bardounia . The material which was used for the building of the church , in other words the stone , was transported by sea from Aigina to Ermioni and then by land from Ermioni to Kranidi.
The order of the church is basilica with a dome. Only three churches in Hellas are built by this order and of the same material. The church has got many icons that are dated back to the 17th and 18th century. The icon of Agios Georgios is covered with silver. The captains have offered money to the church.
Also above the middle door there is a sundial . Inside the church there are frescoes made by egg and unfading colours.
In the sanctuary there is a slab with an inscription on it .Probably it is the grave of a priest.
