Kilada

Kilada is a fishing village in Ermionida. The visitor can admire the famous shipyards which are among the three traditional shipyards in Ermionida and in which fishing boats are constructed.

Across the sea from the village there is the Cave of Francthi. The view from the cave is magnificent . The visitor can admire the bay of Kilada , the small island of Koronis and in the south the plain of Kilada. Inside the cave there is a small pond , one metre below the sea level. Francthi is a universal historical monument. It was successively inhabited during the second half of the palaeolithic era , the mesolithic era and the late neolithic era. Also the existence of the opsidian , a stone from the island of Milos , shows that the inhabitants of the cave crossed the Aegean and they reached Milos to bring opsidian back to their cave.

It is worth visiting the church of Agios Demetrios , the church of Agios Nikolaos and admire the picturesque lighthouse built on the rocks , the church of Evangelistria as well as the Monastery of Zoodohos Pigi . Also you should not forget to visit the remnants of the ancient city of Masis , which is one of the Homeric cities in Ermionida.
